A good blog helps direct people towards interesting and informative events, and with this in mind please may I draw your attention to this year’s IT Broadcast Workflow conference, which is organized by the team at TVB Europe:

The magazine has reported on developments with the Digital Production Partnership (DPP) and such is the interest in this area of standardization activity within the broadcast production community that it will be the subject of the opening keynote session at the conference.

DPP specialist panel assembled

TVB Europe, working with the Digital Production Partnership, has assembled a panel of industry players who will discuss the work of the DPP, highlighting a number of successes and industry changing initiatives.

The panel includes:

  • Kevin Burrows – DPP Technical Standards Lead and CTO Broadcast & Distribution, Channel 4
  • Andy Tennant – DPP Board Member and Technology Director, Studios, ITV
  • Mark Bos – Production Executive Boundless Productions / Freemantlemedia UK
  • Neil Hatton – Post Production Consultant

ITV selects AmberFin for DPP-based project

This will be a fascinating panel discussion and we know many of these contributors well through our DPP work here at AmberFin. For example, we worked with Andy Tennant on a project at SignPost – the UK’s leading supplier of British Sign Language (BSL) on-screen services and part of ITV.

As part of ITV’s wider five-year transformation plan, SignPost’s work with AmberFin will help the facility to migrate from a standard definition (SD) tape-based infrastructure to a new HD file-based workflow. Using this new streamlined working environment, SignPost is providing content for all distribution platforms including television, video, DVD, film, the internet and mobile apps.

Initially, SignPost was attracted to AmberFin iCR since it was one of very few systems that worked well with its chosen Digital Production Partnership file format- AVC-I Op1a MXF.

The conference takes place at the London headquarters of BAFTA in Piccadilly on Tuesday 9 July. If you would like more information about AmberFin’s DPP work, feel free to contact us.
