It’s the end of January and in cubicles across the world the NAB planning fever has set in. Like the other 1,600 companies in our industry that will be exhibiting at the world’s largest media and entertainment trade show, we too are busy planning, designing and messaging:

But this is kind of a special year for us because we are about to launch AmberFin‘s version 10 of iCR. And I have to say, this is our best version ever! So allow me to give you some highlights:

Support for new codecs and wrappers and new enterprise class features

We’re introducing more robust, resilient and enterprise-ready transcoding, more wrappers for broadcast workflows (QT Reference), more codecs for streaming workflows (WebM) and archive conversion workflows (SStP). With iCR’s new enterprise-class features you’ll be able to create a transcode farm scalable to many nodes while ensuring fault-tolerant operations. iCR makes intelligent use of your facility’s resources while making complicated workflows simple to operate for end users. Media facilities need efficient and resilient multi-format transcode resources. With our solution, those transcode farms need not be massive or expensive.

New advanced cadence correction option

Modern working methods and commercial pressures increase the likelihood of broken mixed-cadence material appearing in file-based workflows. So we have developed an advanced cadence correction option for iCR. It’s a pure software solution that’s fast and allows users to automatically correct broken cadence, and lets you get back to the 24p original for internet, international and digital workflows with the best progressive pictures.

Enhancements to UQC

Version 10 of iCR also includes enhancements to UQC with an improved timeline UI and new function-specific plug-ins. We are now working with ten different vendors and systems — including Interra Systems, Digimetrics, and Tektronix — to enable you to mix and match tools to create the optimum QC environment for your needs. New to the UQC ecosystem is Nexidia QC, a software tool that automates the verification of closed caption and video description, closed caption alignment, and language identification in broadcast and IP workflows.

So come and check us out at NAB. And if you are feeling really organized, you could even schedule a meeting with us! See you in Vegas in a couple of months!
