Dalet today announced, in partnership with video server manufacturer VECTOR 3, the launch of Dalet News Suite for VectorBox. This turn-key digital production and playout solution is a package specifically designed for local televisions and community stations: it combines Dalet News Suite integrated news and program production tools running on standard IT servers with VectorBox video and template-based CG playout.
“News programs have become the flagship of local televisions and there is a whole new generation of journalists who are computer literate and who expect a newsroom system to provide them with a unique interface that has all the tools they need to put together their programs: Dalet News Suite does exactly that and that’s why we’ve partnered with Dalet,” explains Mr. Roman Ceano, General Manager and co-founder of VECTOR 3. “Our programmers have worked together so as to make sure that the interoperability between our two systems goes beyond what industry standards support. The result is a turn-key solution that is as integrated as if both products were from the same manufacturer.”
“Digital terrestrial, IPTV and mobile networks are new growth opportunities for local televisions, but they need the right tools to produce and broadcast original content,” says Mr. Nicolas Hans, Director of Marketing for Dalet. “The challenge is that community broadcasters face strong constraints in terms of operating costs: they need a cost-efficient solution that requires minimum staff training and is simple to administer. Dalet News Suite for VectorBox was specifically packaged to meet these requirements: it combines the unified production environment of Dalet News Suite with the tightly integrated CG and video playout features that make VectorBox servers such a success.”
Dalet News Suite for VectorBox comes standard with a predefined workflow, associated training and installation services. It integrates with existing non linear editing (NLE) systems and complements these by providing centralized storage, desktop shot selection and editing, template-based CGs, advanced scripting, program preparation tools and reliable playout.
Provided standard with five production workstations, centralized storage, one agency wire receiver and a Vector V-News play-out server, Dalet News Suite for VectorBox is scalable: centralized feed ingest, workstations, playout ports and storage can be added at any time. Designed as an open platform, it can evolve with a station’s needs whether it be program continuity playout, rich-media file distribution for web and mobile networks, archiving or multi-location production.
